I was so excited when Sydney and Jackson chose the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC for their session . This museum is located on the National Mall is known for its rich history and architectural splendor. From the West Wing to the East Wing of the museum, there is full of stunning spots to work with. There is even a sculpture garden across the street which we didn’t shoot at but is another fun spot to consider. Another plus is that it’s totally free! It requires no permit to shoot in the museum unlike other spots in the DC area.
Inside the National Gallery of Art: East Wing Engagement Photos
When we first got to the museum we ventured to the East Wing. It’s known for it’s modern 20th and 21st century art as well as it’s stunning open architecture with large staircases. I love being able to shoot wide to capture more space and of course put the focus on my stunning subjects, Sydney and Jackson!
Another thing that I love about shooting in the East Wing is the way the natural light. It pours into the space and bounces off the architecture to give that soft light!
West Wing Art Museum Engagement Session Experience
We didn’t stay in the East Wing too long because really the West Wing is what was most meaningful to Sydney and Jackson as avid art lovers! We ventured over and started at the Landscape artworks (which was personally a favorite of mine.) And then through the other parts of the gallery is such a contrast to the West wing that features more neoclassical art – which it is a great way to add variety to the gallery.
